Our Heritage RMS Recording is not just a Digital Recording Studio, although this is it's primary function. Our goal is to support Recording Artists and related personnel in any way we can, to enhance their individual style and sound, and to further their goals.
Much of the success of RMS Studios is attributable to the fact that the owner of RMS is an accomplished musician and engineer in his own right. He understands, from the musician's point of view, what fosters creativity and what stifles it during the recording process.
Mel Roux, a BSc Electronics Engineer, is owner and chief engineer of RMS. He has been playing guitar for over 20 years. Mel has played lead guitar with a number of artists with a diverse range musical styles, including reggae, rock, country, and blues and folk. He has also recorded artists such as Cheree, Rocking Horse, Tony Ridgway, as well as toured as engineer with the likes of America, Rick Wakeman, Chris de Burgh, Carmen, and more, in addition to teaching sound recording at City Varsity in Cape Town.
Mel describes the atmosphere he is attempting to achieve at RMS: "I am striving to foster a relaxed creative atmosphere where artists and corporate clients are free to try new approaches and techniques in a supportive environment. They will find opportunities to improve their musical skills through collaboration with other artists and musical talent. Advise on improving performances is freely available. In addition, they are freed of the usual production worries which are all ably handled by RMS. Corporate clients will find a veritable source of creative ideas to utilize for their marketing tools. At RMS we don’t just record - we get whole-heartedly involved."

How we work... |

At RMS, we don’t just put you, the musician, behind any old mic & hit the record button, hoping for the best. Here, we view recording as an art in itself. From the moment we meet for the first time, the emphasis is on listening and sharing in YOUR dream.
Once we start working on your project, we become part of your team/group. We spend time listening to your songs, then decide on the required sound, and set about creating that sound!! Nothing is too way out or not achievable, as our motto is taken from Winston Churchill—”We shall NEVER surrender”
From finding the required instruments to using the desired mics and experimenting with mic placement, to creating sound with synths, etc, all avenues are explored!!!
That does mean that we don’t record a cd in a week, but then greatness takes time and dedication…. If you are willing, we are able.
Thru all of this, you’ll find our pricing competitive and fair. No we’re not bargain basement class, but neither will we charge Mutt Lange prices!!!
